Rose otto is steam-distilled from the petals of Rosa damascena, grown primarily in the Rose Valley of Bulgaria and in Turkey. It takes approximately 3–5 tonnes of rose petals to produce one kilogram of oil — which is why genuine rose otto commands some of the highest prices of any essential oil. Its complex, honeyed floral scent is used extensively in skin care and perfumery.
